“Guttmann Barcelona” is a highly specialised healthcare centre with a great team of experts in neurorehabilitation and the guarantee of quality offered by the Institut Guttmann, working to promote the health and well-being of the people it treats and their families. The mission of this initiative is to treat people in a comprehensive, holistic and personalised way, generating an ecosystem in their environment that favours health and personal well-being, while accompanying them as they improve their functional capacities.
This innovative initiative offers the following services:
The Brain Health and Neurorehabilitation Institute is a clinic that is specially designed to offer the best diagnosis and the most advanced treatments to respond to motor, cognitive and behavioural functional problems that affect people with a neurological disease or other type of neuropsychiatric disorder.
It is organised into different clinics:
– Neurodevelopment Clinic
– Stroke and Acquired Brain Injury Clinic
– Parkinson’s and other Movement Disorders Clinic
– Emotional and Behavioral Disorders in Adults Clinic.
– Memory Clinic.
– Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic Pain Clinic.
In total, a total of 790 people from the activity in the different clinics were seen in 2020.

The activity carried out in 2020 was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the enforced furlough (ERTE) that had to be applied in this situation. When the health crisis began, and in the light of the declaration of the state of emergency and how infection rate was growing, it was decided to stop the activity in the Neuroclinic.

Guttmann Barcelona Life
Guttmann Barcelona Life (GBL) is a social facility consisting of a group of fully adapted and automated apartments. In addition, the initiative provides a complementary portfolio of personal and support services specifically aimed at promoting personal autonomy and independent living.
This is an initiative of the Institut Guttmann designed to promote the autonomy and quality of life of people with disabilities so they can lead an active, inclusive independent lifestyle and live their life in their own way.
This project, which began in February 2019 with 12 apartments, was expanded in 2020 to give 26 operational apartments. During 2020, a total of 35 users have used this service, representing an average occupancy of 69%. During 2020, and as one of the activities linked to the mission of the Guttmann Barcelona Life apartments, the Independent Living Accompaniment Plan was launched to publicise the Independent Living philosophy in a personalised way for apartment users.
