As a University Institute attached to the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the mission of the Institut Guttmann is to develop academic, scientific and research aspects of neurosciences in general and, specifically, of neurorehabilitation and technologies applied to personal autonomy in particular.
The Foundation’s activity in relation to Knowledge is mainly articulated in two areas: the Research Centre and the Teaching Area. The transfer of knowledge and quality training in the field of neurorehabilitation and neuroengineering stands out in the latter.
The University Institute is governed by an Internal Academic Quality System, accredited by the Agencia de Qualitat Universitària (AQU) of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This forms a structure for all training and academic processes based on the AUDIT programme of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation, and on the recommendations of the European Association for Quality Assurance (ENQA), with the aim of always guaranteeing quality, multidisciplinary teaching activity that prepares students to become the best professionals who will improve the quality of life of neurological patients in the future.
During 2020, intense work was carried out to define and promote strategic projects, to identify new potential strategic partners and to identify competitive calls to apply for. We have promoted the transfer of research results to the clinic and have promoted healthcare innovation processes to reinforce our commitment to offering the highest scientific and technical level in each of our programmes.
