Socially responsible

Socialment responsables

In 2015 the Institut Guttmann made a clear commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility as a policy to offer value across the whole organisation, thereby becoming a pioneering healthcare institution in CSR. The Institut Guttmann’s commitment promotes values that are essential for the organisation and with lawful, ethical and responsible behaviour that it maintains and promotes within all the relationships it establishes, and that is reported annually in this Annual Report / Corporate Social Responsibility Report but also based on the accreditations of the Joint Commission International, the SR10, the GPDR, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and EMAS.

In fact, since 2017 the Institutional Corporate Social Responsibility Policy of the Fundació Institut Guttmann has represented a clear commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility as a policy to offer value across the whole organisation, becoming a leading organisation in the healthcare sector. In line with the objectives of the foundation, this is the document that expresses the will, objectives, orientations, strategies and continued action of the Fundació Institut Guttmann’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Compliance management system, based around voluntary involvement and going beyond that established by current legislation.

The Institut Guttmann exercises a policy of total information transparency, and the institute’s website has the Transparency Portal where it publishes and regularly updates all information and documentation related to its management, programmes and lines of action, audit results, and accreditations, among others.

The Fundació Institut Guttmann is accountable to the Protectorate of Foundations, a body of the Justice Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya concerned with guardianship, control and supervision, as well as the Department of Health and the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Spain.

The annual programme of the Directorate-Management includes the main actions proposed to strengthen our CSR and Compliance Management System and at the same time respond to the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

Committed to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Apart from the accreditations and other mandatory and voluntary audits to which the Institut Guttmann regularly submits, its social commitment is closely linked to innovation relating to the discourse of disability. This renewed discourse was in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) of the United Nations in 2006, ratified by over 20 countries, including Spain in 2008, one of its reference documents.

The Convention advocates a change in the social model of disability, the creation of a social discourse based on:

  • The new perspective of Rights as included in the Convention, placing special emphasis on personal autonomy and empowerment.
  • A change in the social model of disability with full co-responsibility of all individuals equally.
  • A new social discourse that demands the reduction of social inequalities based on disability.
  • Promote the reduction of social inequalities for people with disabilities by promoting the “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDG), specifically those SDGs directly related to disability with the focus on the 2030 Agenda, which is also one of the objectives of the Institut Guttmann.

The Institut Guttmann Foundation advocates for 6 SDGs: 3, 10, 11, 13, 16 and 17.
